Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Labor and Delivery team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: High-risk couplet care
• Number of L&D Beds: 10
• Operating Room Suites for C-Sections: 2
• Triage Beds: 2
• Postpartum Beds: 12
• Average Births Per Month: 140-165
• Staffing Ratios: 1:3-4 for couplets, 1:1 to 1:2 for labor and delivery

Responsibilities

• Manage and care for patients throughout the labor and delivery process.
• Circulate during cesarean sections.
• Provide comprehensive nursing care from start to finish in labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum (LDRP).
• Monitor patient stability and respond to emergencies appropriately.
• Collaborate effectively with obstetricians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
• Ensure adherence to guidelines, protocols, and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN-Advanced; STABLE preferred.
• Experience in high-risk labor and delivery nursing is highly regarded.
• Ability to float to Mother/Baby units and circulate cesarean sections.
• Competency in interpreting EKG strips in the PACU.

Schedule

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Shift Start: 6:45 AM
• On-call requirements: Must be able to respond within 30 minutes if placed on call.
• Extra shifts and overtime opportunities are available.
• Floating required to other facilities within the region.

Support Services

• OB surgical technicians available on the unit.
• OB hospitalist and Neonatologist on-site 24/7, with Neonatologist also providing on-call services.
• Anesthesia staff available on-site 24/7.

Charting System

We utilize the Cerner system for all charting and documentation.
