This is a 100% remote contract position with consistent evening hours and potential for extension based on performance.

What You’ll Do

• Drive First-Call Resolution: Manage incoming calls from providers and members to research authorization status, verify eligibility, and address inquiries accurately.

• Smart Care Triaging: Resolve non-clinical inquiries, clearly communicate required documentation, and reserve clinical transfer lines exclusively for complex escalations.

• Manage Multi-System Data: Toggle across internal platforms to log detailed case notes, update authorization statuses, and process incoming faxes between calls.

• Build Professional Relationships: Deliver dependable, high-touch customer support to regional provider networks, de-escalating concerns with poise and empathy.

• Maintain Quality Standards: Consistently hit operational accuracy, attendance, and call quality benchmarks while strictly adhering to HIPAA privacy guidelines.

What You Bring

• Customer Service Foundation: Prior background in phone-based customer support, call center operations, or healthcare administration.

• Tech-Savvy Multitasking: Typing speed of at least 30 WPM with proven comfort toggling across multiple software platforms and databases simultaneously.

• Schedule Commitment: Full availability to work the dedicated 2:30 PM – 11:30 PM CST schedule without conflict.

• Excellent Communication: Active listening skills, clear verbal articulation, and the self-discipline required to thrive in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

This position is part of an operations team that strives to provide first call resolution to a specified set of customers. This position primarily answers incoming calls for new and existing authorizations. Responsibilities include documenting in the appropriate systems and ensuring high quality and accurate information is provided to callers. This role is expected to meet or exceed operations production and quality measures.

• Understand the end-to-end authorization process, and the business drivers for success.
• Actively listen and probe callers in a professional and timely manner to process authorizations and/or other customer service requests working towards first call resolution.
• Research and communicate information regarding member eligibility, provider status and authorization inquiries to callers while maintaining confidentiality.
• Resolve customer complaints or concerns as the first line of contact.
• Make problem resolution and triage decisions not requiring clinical judgment.
• Discourage unnecessary clinical/physician phone transfers and encourage medical records to be submitted. Help callers understand what clinical information is required.
• Transfer calls to clinicians and physicians only for clinically escalated situations.
• Communicate appeal and denial language to providers and members when appropriate.
• Process withdrawals and other case status changes as needed.
