Come make a difference at MGIC.PurposeResponsible for leading and optimizing the delivery of HR Shared Services and payroll administration to ensure consistent, accurate and high-quality co-worker experience. This role oversees day-to-day operational execution while driving process standardization, compliance, and continuous improvement across HR transactions. This position services as a key leader within the HR Operations function, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processes, verifying compliance with federal, state and local laws, effective case management, and responsive coworker support across the employee lifecycle.The Team Manager will partner closely with HR team members, Finance, Legal, Internal Audit and external vendors to ensure operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, data integrity and delivering HR Services that meet or exceed the needs of co-workers and enable business success.Primary Duties And ResponsibilitiesManagement/LeadershipManages a team of direct reports. Leads and develops employees into a highly effective team by setting clear performance objectives and goals, regular and honest feedback, and individual development plans.Reviews workload across the team and effectively manages the process by appropriate work distribution. Provides feedback to ensure team members understand the role they play and provides timely and effective direction.Promotes knowledge sharing, documentation, and cross-training to support operational resilience and scalability.Collaborates closely with HR Partners, Finance, Legal, Internal Audit, IS and other stakeholders to support business and coworker needs.Drives standardization, automation and simplification of HR Shared Service and Payroll processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.Identifies root cause of recurring issues and implements corrective and preventable solutions with consideration for department outcomes.Leads team through the process of change both within the department and throughout the organization to achieve results related to MGIC's business priorities.Leads and contributes to HR workflow enhancements, shared service work ingestion, and process improvement initiatives.Responsibilities Specific To This RoleHR Shared ServicesLead the HR Shared Service team in delivering consistent, timely and high-quality support to our co-worker and alumni population, including core HR processes and lifecycle transactions.Establish, monitor and improve service delivery standards, service level agreements and key performance indicators to ensure a positive coworker experience. Responsible for developing standards, best practices, and documentation.Act as an escalation point for complex or sensitive situations, ensuring accurate resolution and appropriate management.Payroll Administration And GovernanceOversee end-to-end payroll administration, by leading the team to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.Maintain accurate HR and payroll data within Workday, ensuring internal checks and balances are executed.Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state and local regulations.Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, responding to findings, and implementing remediation plans. Serves as the liaison for HR and Internal Audit team.QualificationsMinimum of 5 years of experience in HR Operations, Payroll and/or HR ComplianceStrong critical thinking and problem-solving skillsKnowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulationsKnowledge of payroll tax compliance and reporting requirementsExperience and knowledge of payroll and workforce management systems such as WorkdayAbility to multi-task and effectively manage competing prioritiesStrong verbal and written communication skillsProject Management experiencePay Range:$87,990.00 - $149,590.00This range aligns with current market data and reflects our commitment to competitive and equitable compensation. Salary offers are based on factors such as experience, skills, education, and training. The range may vary in certain locations to reflect local market conditions.
