Under general supervision, Instructional Assistants in our Education program participate in the direct care and plan implementation for clients, as prescribed by physician and treatment teams. They assist the Academic Teacher in implementing instructional and therapeutic activities, assist with writing lesson plans and preparing instructional materials, assess progress through data analysis, and modify teaching techniques to promote achievement of each assigned client’s established goals. They work with clients in residences during academic breaks and holidays, provide transportation between the residence and school in community‑based programs, and provide supervision, safety and crisis management. They complete documentation of client behavior and participation, adhere to scheduled activities, role model positive behavior, and utilize proactive behavioral strategies to minimize client crisis and maximize success. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Health, Safety and Wellness of Clients Ensure medications are delivered accurately and on time. Provide for the well‑being and safety of clients. Support client health and hygiene. Report serious incidents and participate in reviews to implement follow‑up measures. Know the SNAP, goals, objectives, and treatment strategies from current plans (Treatment Plan, IEP, ISP) of assigned clients. Promote clients’ achievement of behavioral goals by implementing strategies and teaching alternative behaviors. Actively instruct assigned clients to achieve education/residential goals and objectives or ID Waiver outcomes. Collect and document behavioral and instructional data accurately and reliably. Document services delivered accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain a high level of engagement with and monitoring of clients and implement planned activities throughout the workday. Provides a Supportive and Solution–Focused Environment Build trusting, respectful relationships with clients and help clients do the same. Demonstrate knowledge of the symptoms and supports associated with diagnoses of assigned clients and a trauma‑informed care approach. Manage behavioral crisis safely. Collaborate with the Treatment Team to provide continuity of support and care, communicating and contributing to team discussions and decisions. Exhibit exemplary customer service with guardians, agency personnel and visitors. Site Management – Housekeeping, Nutrition, Transportation, Finances Ensure a safe residence/classroom environment. Assure a clean and organized residence/classroom. Promote good nutrition and, in group homes, assist with meal preparation. Provide transportation/community mobility. Assist with purchases and be accountable for program and client money as applicable. Teamwork and Commitment to the Mission, Values and Vision of Grafton Demonstrate knowledge of the organization. Minimum Training and Experience Bachelor’s degree in human services; or an associate’s degree and 3 months experience working with children; or be a high school graduate or have a GED and 6 months’ experience working with children. Must be 19 years of age. Must pass a criminal background check and pre‑employment drug screen. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Additional Requirements Demonstrate moderate computer skills: log‑in, navigate the web for information, start and save a document in Microsoft Word, and basic keyboarding skills. Compensation $17.00–$22.00 based on experience. 401(k), including an employer match up to $2,500 annually. Education Assistance up to $5,250 annually (must work an average of 20 hours a week).
