Job Description What We Need YOU To Do: Ohio EPA wants you to join our team as the newest environmental specialist in the Division of Materials and Waste Management (DMWM) at our Northwest District Office in Bowling Green, Ohio. Our work turns technical skills into statewide impacts. In this role, you’ll serve as a lead resource for district staff, providing guidance, training, and technical support on solid waste management and ensuring staff stays current on solid waste rules, policies, and procedures. You’ll work independently to review engineering designs and peer technical reports for completeness and accuracy. In the field, you’ll conduct sampling and inspections at solid waste and C&DD facilities to observe operations and construction activities and assess compliance with state and federal rules. Teamwork is also key, and you’ll collaborate across divisions and agency offices by participating in technical work groups, supporting enforcement actions as a subject matter expert, and assisting with public outreach and inquiries. You’ll coordinate project tracking and prepare progress reports to ensure goals and objectives are achieved, and help coordinate and plan work commitments, including field inspections, permits, technical reports, and related documents. OR combination of education in environmentally focused discipline or other job-related discipline & specific programmatic experience equaling 7 yrs. OR completion of undergraduate core coursework in environmentally-related discipline; AND 3 yrs. relevant programmatic exp. OR 2 yrs. relevant programmatic experience as Environmental Supervisor, 85865. OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
