Phlebotomist

Position Phlebotomist 5287 – contract job opportunity with potential for permanent hire. Location & Schedule Location: Liverpool, NY and surrounding area – float job. Projected duration: 3 months with potential for permanent. Schedule: Monday to Friday 6:45 am – 5:30 pm (varied) with rotating Saturday shifts 8 am – 12 pm. Float Locations Baldwinsville Camillus Cazenovia Cicero East Syracuse Fayetteville Liverpool Pulaski Syracuse Watertown Key Responsibilities Perform blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, and storing specimens according to established procedures. Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection in a clear, courteous manner. Demonstrate the use of straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Understand all physician orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy. Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature and collection protocols. Maintain compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations, attend annual department trainings, and respond to telephone inquiries regarding laboratory results. Minimum Qualifications Valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (where required). Minimum 6 months of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting. Minimum 1.5 years of experience in phlebotomy. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
