Job Description

The purpose of this job is to provide professional nursing care within an assigned unit and coordinate care planning with other disciplines. Duties and responsibilities include obtaining information including histories, vitals and lab specimens, performing physical assessments, participating in administration of vaccines, assisting in procedures and wound care, evaluating outcomes of patient care, coordinating discharge planning, monitoring and recording patients' condition, performing charge duties, rounding on patients, orienting or mentoring new staff members, and performing other miscellaneous and related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Graduate of a National League of Nursing accredited school, current license to practice professional nursing in the state of South Carolina, a minimum of one year of professional nursing experience, CPR certification obtained within 6 months of hire.

Special Certifications and Licenses

CPR Certification, First Aid Certification, Current Nursing License

Physical Demands

Physical requirements include standing up to twelve hours, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, talking, hearing, smelling, lifting or exerting energy up to 35 pounds. Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception are also required. Unavoidable hazards include regularly exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases, contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances, exposure to unpleasant elements including accidents, injuries and illnesses, subject to varying unpredictable situations, handling emergency or crisis situations, performing emergency care, subject to irregular hours, and occasional exposure to radiation.
