The Opportunity

SHADE Industries is seeking a Concrete and Structural Steel Assembly Lead to direct site preparation, caisson drilling, and concrete footing installations for high-end commercial and residential shade structures across the Phoenix area.

In this hands-on field leadership position, you will oversee excavation machinery, steel rebar reinforcement, concrete pours, and anchor bolt placements that serve as the foundation for massive architectural tensioned fabric solutions. If you bring a strong background in concrete site work, machinery operation, and crew leadership, this position offers year-round stability and a four-day workweek schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Foundation Site Leadership: Direct daily field activities for site crews of 1 to 4 employees, ensuring accurate layout and execution of deep concrete footings and piers.
• Excavation and Equipment Operation: Safely operate light and medium-duty excavation machinery, skid steers, augers, and equipment trailers for structural site preparation.
• Formwork and Concrete Execution: Set up forms, set rebar cages, manage site-mixed or transit-mixed concrete pours, and set precision anchor bolt templates according to plans and engineering specs.
• Blueprint and Engineering Literacy: Read and interpret structural engineering drawings, grade elevations, and site soil plans to ensure exact footing depths and placement.
• Field Coordination: Work directly with project managers, site superintendents, and inspectors to ensure site readiness and timely inspections.
• Safety Enforcement: Enforce jobsite safety standards, heat safety protocols, and strict OSHA compliance across all excavation and concrete activities.

What You Need to Succeed (Qualifications)

• Required
• Field Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in concrete flatwork, structural footings, heavy excavation, or civil site preparation.
• Equipment Mastery: Demonstrated capability operating skid steers, mini-excavators, augers, and towable equipment trailers.
• Crew Leadership: Proven track record directing small field crews, managing jobsite safety, and maintaining daily production logs.
• Driver Credentials and Travel: Valid driver license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel for short-term regional assignments (1 to 4 days).
• Preferred
• Trade Skills: Experience with concrete pump trucks, utility locating, or structural steel tie-ins.
• Safety Certifications: OSHA 10/30 card, CPR/First Aid, or trenching and excavation safety credentials.
