Position Summary: The Electronics Technician III serves as an expert-level electronics technician and subject matter expert responsible for the diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of complex electronic assemblies and printed circuit boards. This position operates independently with minimal supervision, performing advanced component-level repairs. The E3 technician also provides technical leadership through training, mentoring, and documentation to support knowledge transfer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include advanced electronics troubleshooting & repair, performing expert-level diagnostics and repair of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electronic assemblies, independently determining the root cause of electronic failures using systematic troubleshooting methodologies, performing BGA rework, advanced micro-soldering, PCB trace repair, and damaged pad repair, utilizing oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and other advanced diagnostic equipment, analyzing circuit behavior and waveform data to identify component- and system-level failures, interpreting complex electronic schematics, technical drawings, and engineering documentation, troubleshooting electronic systems at both component and subsystem levels, documenting technical findings, repair activities, and troubleshooting procedures accurately and thoroughly, and verifying repair effectiveness through functional testing and validation procedures.

Requirements include process development & documentation, developing, documenting, and improving repair procedures, troubleshooting methodologies, and technical work instructions, collaborating with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams to implement process improvements, training & technical leadership, training, mentoring, and supporting Electronics Technician I (E1) and Electronics Technician II (E2) personnel, serving as a subject matter expert for assigned products, technologies, and repair processes, quality & continuous improvement, supporting initiatives to improve first-pass yield, repair turnaround time, and overall production efficiency, participating in root-cause investigations and corrective action activities, technical knowledge requirements including AC-DC converters, DC-DC converters, switching transformers, amplifiers, oscillators, filters, LCD drivers, microcontrollers, memory circuits, and communication protocols including UART, SPI, IC, CAN, USB.

Required qualifications include an associate degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related discipline; minimum 3 years of advanced electronics troubleshooting and repair experience; demonstrated expertise in PCB diagnostics and component-level repair; ability to read schematics, BOMs, and technical documentation.

Certification requirements include a written examination with a 90% minimum passing score, a practical examination to diagnose and repair unknown failures within labor standards, and a diagnostic evaluation to demonstrate advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.

Physical requirements include the ability to sit or stand for extended periods; use microscopes and precision tools; lift to 25 pounds occasionally; manual dexterity for soldering and repair work.

Work environment includes electronics repair and manufacturing environment requiring adherence to ESD and safety procedures.
