ICU Registered Nurse (RN)This position is for a Medical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with a total of 10 beds, focusing on providing high-quality care to critically ill patients.The nurse-to-patient ratio on this unit is 1:2, ensuring personalized and diligent care for each patient.Required Certifications:BLS (Basic Life Support)ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)This unit treats a diverse range of medical diagnoses, primarily focusing on critically ill patients requiring close monitoring and advanced medical interventions.Required Skills and Experience:Experience in telemetryProficiency in managing ventilatorsAbility to perform drip titrationsRegistered Nurses are required to titrate drips, which commonly include:Cardiac medicationsSedation agentsParalyticsEach shift includes a Charge Nurse who will also take assignments. Nurse aids or patient care techs may be available, but their presence is not guaranteed.Hospitalists and/or intensivists are on-site 24/7. Respiratory therapists are available in the ICU around the clock.Registered Nurses on this unit are responsible for reading their own telemetry strips.The unit operates on a self-scheduling system; however, shifts may be adjusted to maintain a balanced staffing schedule. Weekend and holiday requirements include:6 weekend shifts in a 6-week period2 shifts in the summer and 3 shifts in the winter for holiday coverageStaff may be required to float to other floors as necessary.The designated scrub color for this unit is Galaxy Blue.New hires will undergo 1-2 shifts of unit-specific orientation to facilitate a smooth transition into the role.The electronic medical record system utilized is EPIC.A Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) is not required for this position.This is an acute care setting.
