Workers Compensation SpecialistThe position of Workers' Compensation Specialist involves serving as the primary handler for workers' compensation claims at the plant. The role emphasizes excellent customer service, quality claims handling, and effective loss cost management. This is a plant-based role.ResponsibilitiesAnalyze and process complex or technically difficult workers' compensation claims by investigating and gathering information to determine the exposure on the claim.Handle a full caseload, with proven ability to manage cases of increased severity.Manage claims through well-developed action plans to ensure timely and cost-effective resolutions.Calculate and assign timely and appropriate reserves to claims; manage reserve adequacy throughout the life of the claim.Calculate and pay benefits due; approve and make timely claim payments and adjustments; and settle claims within designated authority level.Prepare necessary state filings within statutory limits.Coordinate vendor referrals for additional investigation and/or litigation management.Use appropriate cost containment techniques, including strategic vendor partnerships, to reduce overall cost of claims.Manage claim recoveries, including but not limited to subrogation, Second Injury Fund excess recoveries, and Social Security and Medicare offsets.Report claims to the excess carrier.Communicate claim activity and processing with the claimant and the client.Ensure claim files are properly documented, and claims coding is correct.Refer cases as appropriate to supervisor and management.Essential SkillsWorkers' compensation claims handling experienceCustomer service skillsAdministrative and clerical skillsExperience in claims handling and loss cost managementAdditional Skills & Qualifications3-5 years of Missouri Workers' Compensation Claims Adjusting experienceMinimum High School DiplomaOffice and administrative experienceStrong customer service skillsQuality claims handling and loss cost management experienceWork EnvironmentThe position is fully onsite, requiring work 5 days a week from Monday to Friday at the Kansas City Plant. Working hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM, with a 1-hour lunch break. The role offers an opportunity for advancement with a well-known company and is a long-term, open-ended contract opportunity.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Kansas City, MO.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.87 - $28.87/hr.
