Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for Correctional Assignments

Amergis Staffing is currently seeking highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for Correctional assignments in Gastonia, NC.

Position Details:

Contract Length: 8 Weeks (Extensions Available)

Number of Openings: 4

Shift Length: 10hr Shifts - 4x10hr - 40hr Weekly Schedule

Start Date: ASAP

Schedule: 3pm-1am

Must have Active NC State or Compact License

The Corrections Licensed Practical Nurse works in close and immediate contact with adults and children in custody on a daily basis providing general and emergency nursing care in the Medical and Ambulatory section of the Corrections Facility while maintaining facility security standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Utilizes the nursing process to plan, implement, treat and evaluate the patient/inmate
• Integrates and implements referrals of inmates to the staff physician, nurse practitioner, dentist, mental health professional
• Looks for signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient's condition and reports to RN and/or physician
• Collaborates with RN regarding the plan of care according to evaluation, changes in medical plan of care, and effective/ineffective nursing interventions
• Documents patient's response to nursing and other interventions
• Monitors the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment
• Participates in infection control activities as directed by Infection Control Coordinator and/or nursing supervisor
• Participates in the orientation and continuing education of staff as applicable
• Participates in the Health Quality Improvement Program as applicable
• Adheres to all facility policy and procedure
• Follow security guidelines and protocol on tools/sharps counts and ingress/egress policies at all times
• Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

• Possesses a current Practical Nursing License in the applicable state
• Minimum of one year experience in Corrections preferred
• Current CPR if applicable
• TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age
