Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Legends

Location: Princeton, WV
Program: Legends Inpatient Substance Use Disorder Residential Program
Position Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

Southern Highlands Community Mental Health Center is seeking a compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join the team at Legends, our inpatient substance use disorder residential program in Princeton, West Virginia.

The DSP provides person-centered support to individuals receiving residential treatment. This position helps ensure the safety and well-being of those we serve while addressing their physical, social, health, emotional, economic, and training needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide protective oversight and help maintain a safe, supportive residential environment.
• Assist individuals with daily living activities and life-skills training.
• Provide appropriate support based on each individual’s needs and treatment goals.
• Observe individuals’ well-being and promptly report concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Encourage healthy routines, independence, and participation in program activities.
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with individuals, coworkers, supervisors, and other members of the treatment team.
• Follow all organizational policies, safety procedures, confidentiality requirements, and program guidelines.
• Complete required documentation accurately and within established timeframes.
• Utilize approved verbal and physical intervention techniques when necessary and appropriately trained.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively as part of a team
• Ability to provide compassionate, respectful, and dependable support
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position and utilize approved intervention techniques when necessary
