Job Description

The Physical Therapist will assess and treat neuromusculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory systems through physical or mechanical means to maintain or restore function impaired by injury or disease. This role focuses on pain management and the promotion of mobility and health as prescribed by the referring physician. The therapist is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the plan of care for patients served, while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, patients, and their families during the entire process.

Responsibilities

• Verify physician orders prior to evaluation.
• Evaluate each patient before administering treatments, addressing psychological and physical issues.
• Complete evaluations and establish goals and plans of care in collaboration with patients and their families.
• Administer and direct all physical therapy treatments and modalities.
• Maintain communication with the referring physician regarding patient progress and treatment effects.
• Assemble and organize home programs for patients and provide training to patients and families as needed.
• Direct and oversee Physical Therapy Assistants and Rehabilitation Assistants during treatments.
• Maintain accurate records of all patient treatments, including subjective and objective information, assessments, and treatment plans.
• Promote the team approach to rehabilitation services and engage in performance improvement activities.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current New Mexico Physical Therapist licensure.
• BLS certification from AHA required.
• Education: Doctorate, Masters, Bachelors, or Associate's degree in Physical Therapy.
• Demonstrated accountability and skills in assessment, evaluation, decision-making, and time management.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, written communication, and organizational skills.
