Position Details

Title: Senior Buyer

Position Type: 2 year contract with additional opportunity contingent upon performance and continued business need

Compensation: $45-$50/HR

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with business leaders and cross-functional teams to understand sourcing needs and identify reliable suppliers that can deliver high-quality products at the lowest total cost.
• Analyze and interpret market conditions, supplier capabilities, supply constraints, pricing trends, regional regulations, and industry best practices to develop and implement effective sourcing strategies.
• Utilize Global Procurement processes, procedures, and tools to achieve procurement objectives while maintaining compliance with corporate governance requirements.
• Ensure procurement system data remains accurate, current, and consistent.
• Develop, negotiate, implement, and manage supplier agreements by evaluating:
• Contract terms and conditions
• Demand forecasts and growth objectives
• Quality, regulatory, and supply chain requirements
• Industry supply and demand dynamics
• Historical pricing trends and market drivers
• Manage supply risk by partnering with Operations, Supply Chain, R&D, Project Management, Quality, and other stakeholders to ensure supply continuity and security.
• Drive cost savings initiatives and working capital improvements while effectively managing cost pressures.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships through Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) programs focused on continuous improvement, value creation, and risk mitigation.

Preferred Background

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in raw material strategic sourcing, including:
• Supply market analysis
• Supplier identification and qualification
• Price negotiations
• Contract negotiations and management
• Strategic sourcing execution
• Experience in industrial manufacturing environments is strongly preferred.
• Candidates from mid-sized to large organizations are preferred.
• Traditional supply chain experience (purchasing, production planning, material planning, logistics, etc.) is beneficial but not a substitute for strategic sourcing expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• 5-10 years of sourcing, operations, or supply chain experience, including at least 3 years in a raw material strategic sourcing role.
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Strong analytical, data analysis, and value assessment capabilities.
• Advanced proficiency with business systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Understanding of legal principles related to contracts and supplier agreements.
• Strong knowledge of supply chain management fundamentals and their integration with sourcing activities.
• Understanding of finance and cost management principles.
• Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements.
• High ethical standards and professional integrity.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and drive results.
• Ability to travel as needed based on project requirements.
