Overview Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) Locum Tenens opportunity in Springfield, Illinois. Key Details Location: Springfield, Illinois (62781) Facility: Acute Care Hospital, Oncology Unit (24 beds) Assignment Type: Locum Tenens, Travel Nursing Contract Length: 13 weeks Start Date: September 22, 2025 End Date: December 22, 2025 Shift: Day shifts, 12 hours (07:15 – 18:45); 3x12 or 4x12 per week Hours per Week: 36 Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,890 – $1,940 Charting System: Cerner Scrub Color: Any solid color Parking: Free permit provided Qualifications Active Illinois RN license or in application process Minimum 1 year of recent oncology nursing experience Chemo certification preferred (ONS/ONCC, OCN) Experience with Cerner charting system preferred Ability to float within hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed Must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during assignment Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered) First-time travel nurses accepted Responsibilities Deliver compassionate, high-quality care to adult and geriatric oncology patients Administer chemotherapy (IV, oral, continuous infusion, IV push) and manage cytotoxic spills Monitor chemotherapy and recognize/communicate abnormal lab values Perform IV therapy and infusion tasks: accessing ports, central/PICC line care, blood product administration Educate and support patients and families throughout cancer treatment Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: physical therapy, respiratory, pharmacy, social services, and more Float to other units as required to meet facility needs Apply Discover rewarding oncology nursing opportunities in Springfield, Illinois, where community and excellent patient care come together.
