Description

American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown/ICU RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of PCU/stepdown/ICU experience and frequent floating across Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units.

Details

• Stepdown unit role with frequent floating to ICU and MedSurg units
• 21-bed unit
• Patient ratios: Stepdown 1:4-5, ICU 1:2, MedSurg 1:5-6
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:00
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Floating required across Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units
• Weekly orientation held every Wednesday
• Manages non-titrating drips including Amiodarone, NTG, Cardizem, Lopressor, and Cardene
• Cares for vascular patients (fem-pop, CEA), NSTEMI, and post-cardiac cath with intervention patients
• Manages CIWA protocol patients receiving IVP Ativan
• Provides peritoneal dialysis care
• Manages stable BiPAP, heated high flow (<80%), and home ventilators (Trilogy)
• Performs wound care and nebulizer treatments
• Hemodialysis performed in the Dialysis Department
• Uses Meditech EMR

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or compact license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/stepdown/ICU experience required
• ICU experience required for consideration
• Meditech charting experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Skilled in BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, and high flow nasal cannula
• Experienced in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and titrating cardiac/vasoactive drips
• Experienced in wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experienced with pacemakers and pre/post cardiac cath care

Additional Information

• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate
• Must be comfortable floating frequently between Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units in accordance with facility floating policies
• Appropriate orientation provided when floating to a new unit
• Royal blue and white scrubs required
• Expected to work some holidays and weekends in rotation with staff
• Minimal to no RTO accommodated, especially during the first weeks of the assignment
• Previous employees must have been gone at least 1 year and in good standing at time of departure to be eligible for rehire
• First-time travelers may be considered
