Patient Care Tech III - Night Shift, High-Impact Support

Job Overview Under the direction of the appropriate licensed clinician and in keeping with unit‑specific standards, the Patient Care Tech III (PCT III) provides patient care to meet the personal needs and comfort of patients and assists members of the healthcare team. As an integral member of the patient care team, serves both internal and external customers including patients, nurses, physicians and other colleagues who support the delivery of care and services. Schedule & Compensation Exemption Status: Non‑Exempt Hiring Range: $18.76 – $29.96 Schedule: Night Shift 3 – 7:15 A, 8 hours, every other holiday and weekend Hours: 24 per 7‑day period Cost Center: 10021 – 2340 Emergency Room Union: SHARE Marlborough Major Responsibilities Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients, such as skin condition, vital signs, and mental status. Provides constant observation of high‑risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee. Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe environment, using interventions to de‑escalate patients and, if necessary, participating in restraints according to training. Assists patients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, ambulation, meals, and nourishment. Assists in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients using proper safety techniques and body mechanics. Specialty Areas Unit Secretary – performs administrative duties with patient admissions, transfers, and discharge procedures. Remote Video Monitoring – continuously observes multiple patients via remote video systems. Telemetry Certified & Step‑Down Unit – cross‑trained in phlebotomy, telemetry, and unit clerk duties, assigned to higher acuity areas. Standard Staffing Level Responsibilities Complies with departmental policies, procedures, and objectives. Attends meetings, conferences, and seminars as required. Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations. Complies with all health and safety regulations. Maintains reliable attendance. Performs other related duties as directed. Position Qualifications License/Certification/Education Required: Minimum of a high school education or GED; Current Basic Life Support. Experience/Skills Demonstrated competency at PCT II level or 1 year of acute care/hospital experience or 1 year of EMT/Paramedic experience. Ability to read, write, and communicate in English clearly and concisely. Medical terminology proficiency. Computer skills. Strong interpersonal skills to gather information, build relationships, and provide exceptional patient service. Problem‑solving abilities for routine situations with ability to seek assistance when needed. Ability to remain calm under stress or in emergency situations. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions The position requires indoor work in a patient care environment. Adequate hand dexterity, hearing and vision are necessary to take direction, adjust equipment, and observe patient status. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Work includes heavy standing, walking, pushing equipment and frequent bending.
