TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Oncology RN in New Orleans, Louisiana, 70121!

Job Title: Oncology Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty required License: Compact or state license required upon submission Certifications: BLS, ACLS required Must-Have: Epic charting system experience preferred 1 year of charge experience preferred Experience with medication administration and IV management Description: First-time travelers are welcome. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4. Float requirements are in place and weekend coverage is every other week. The patient population includes hematology, medical oncology, bone marrow transplant, gynecologic, and surgical oncology. Unit comprises a 7-bed positive pressure wing for bone marrow transplant and acute leukemia patients. Bedside central venous catheter placements and bone marrow biopsies may be required. Familiarity with equipment such as Alaris IV pumps, barcode medication administration, and SCD machines is necessary. Experience in chemotherapy administration and managing blood products is essential. Knowledge of isolation precautions and the ability to manage dysrhythmias are required. The unit will provide interdisciplinary support from various services including physical therapy and pharmacy. Patient diagnoses primarily involve cancer treatment. Specific procedures include chemotherapy infusion and bone marrow transplant. The unit requires med/surg experience. Modules will be completed during orientation. Candidates who have worked as permanent staff must be separated for one year before returning.
