RN Interventional Radiology

Job Summary The Registered Nurse in Diagnostic Imaging provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing interventional radiology procedures in a fast-paced level 1 trauma center environment. The role involves pre-procedural preparation, post-procedural recovery, and overnight observation care for inpatients and outpatients across all age groups. The nurse works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring patient safety and comfort while managing care for patients undergoing CT scans, MRIs, nuclear medicine scans, X-rays, and ultrasounds. Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills are essential, along with experience in telemetry and medical/surgical nursing. Responsibilities Prepare patients for interventional radiology procedures and provide post-procedural care including recovery and 23-hour observation. Care for patients boarding overnight pre- or post-procedure in a high-energy diagnostic imaging setting. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care effectively. Monitor patient telemetry and respond to changes in patient condition promptly. Maintain accurate documentation and communicate patient status to healthcare providers. Participate in charge nurse duties as assigned per unit needs. Float between shifts and units as required, including holidays and weekends. Required Skills & Certifications Active Registered Nurse license in New York State only. Minimum of two years' experience as an IR Registered Nurse. Telemetry experience required. American Heart Association BLS certification. American Heart Association ACLS certification. Strong communication and critical thinking skills. Preferred Skills & Certifications Experience with gastrointestinal post-procedural care. Medical/Surgical nursing experience. Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system in a similar specialty within the last year. Special Considerations Rotating day, evening, and night shifts including holidays and weekends. On-call and callback duties as needed. Floating between units based on staffing needs. Work environment includes inpatient and outpatient diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology settings. Scheduling Rotating shifts covering day, evening, and night schedules. Shift assignments based on unit needs, including weekend and holiday coverage.
