Position Information Classification Title Zone Shop Supervisor FLSA Exempt FTE 1.00 Minimum Qualifications Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 8 years of professional experience. Preferred Qualifications Five years of supervisory experience and five years of experience working in a maintenance facility are preferred. Position Summary This position directs the activities of the Off Campus Zone Shop. This position oversees 10-14 semi-skilled and skilled trade employees including HVAC technicians, plumbers, maintenance workers, electricians, carpenters, painters and skilled trades workers. This shop is responsible for responding to trouble calls in the buildings off of the campus. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques. Knowledge of computer-based work order management system. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and other computer applications. Knowledge of ordering job materials and accounting for job labor and material costs. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Ability to supervise and train employees to include organizing, prioritizing and scheduling multiple work assignments and projects. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment that includes a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff. Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce procedures. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgment’s. Physical Demands Although this is a supervisory position, foreman is expected to meet standard physical requirements of the construction trades.
