RN House Supervisor

The RN House Supervisor plays a critical role in promoting and restoring patients' health through effective management of the patient care area. This position is essential for directing and developing staff while collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to provide both physical and psychological support for patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patient care area.
• Direct and develop nursing staff, including selection, training, and performance evaluations.
• Implement and monitor operational standards in nursing care, contributing to strategic plans and ensuring quality and productivity.
• Manage financial objectives by preparing budget information and monitoring expenditures.
• Establish rapport with patients and families to identify service requirements and enhance care experiences.
• Develop and update policies and procedures to maintain nursing guidelines and quality of care.
• Ensure adherence to state regulations and healthcare standards, measuring health outcomes against established benchmarks.
• Facilitate compassionate interactions with patients and provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support.
• Promote patient independence through education on disease management, medications, and self-care skills.
• Utilize multidisciplinary team strategies to resolve patient needs effectively.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment through the implementation of procedures and regulations.
• Oversee adherence to infection-control policies and medication administration protocols.
• Ensure accurate documentation of patient care services by auditing records.
• Verify the availability and operation of medical and administrative equipment.
• Manage nursing supplies inventory effectively and anticipate future needs.
• Engage in continuous professional development through educational workshops and professional society involvement.
• Foster cohesive relationships among healthcare team members to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Must possess current ACLS and BLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
• A minimum of 4 years recent experience as an RN House Supervisor, with ICU supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience as an Emergency event leader, including Code Blue and Rapid Response scenarios.
• Experience in the care of critically ill patients, including working with ventilators and tracheostomy care.
• Strong interpersonal skills, time management abilities, and organizational skills are essential.
• Competence in venipuncture and IV initiation is required.
• Must have a valid Texas RN license or multi-state license.
