Childcare Center Cook The Learning Experience
Grand Rapids, MI
Pay: $17-$18 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday

The Learning Experience is looking for a dependable Childcare Center Cook to prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks for our children while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen.

This is a great opportunity for someone with professional food preparation or kitchen experience who wants a consistent weekday schedule in a positive childcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals and snacks according to established menus and schedules
• Follow appropriate portion sizes and meal requirements
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen
• Properly store, label, rotate, and monitor food and supplies
• Follow food safety and sanitation procedures
• Maintain awareness of children's food allergies and dietary restrictions
• Distribute meals and snacks to classrooms
• Wash dishes and maintain kitchen equipment and food preparation areas
• Monitor food and supply inventory and communicate ordering needs
• Maintain required food service documentation
• Work collaboratively with teachers and center leadership
• Follow Michigan childcare, health, sanitation, and food safety requirements

Qualifications

• Previous professional cooking, kitchen, or food preparation experience preferred
• Experience preparing meals for children, schools, childcare programs, or group settings is a plus
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food storage practices
• Food safety certification preferred
• Dependable, organized, and able to work independently
• Comfortable managing documented food allergies and dietary restrictions
• Must meet applicable Michigan requirements for the position
