The Office of Education Innovation (OEI) is a charter school authorizer responsible for overseeing the academics, finances, and operations of mayor-sponsored public charter schools that educate about 19,000 students across the city. Our staff also closely scrutinizes charter school proposals to ensure high-quality, accessible, and equitable plans.

Job Summary

The Senior Performance Analyst is responsible for owning financial oversight across OEI’s portfolio of authorized charter schools and contributing cross-domain academic analytical support on complex and high-risk schools. This role combines deep financial judgment with the flexibility to engage meaningfully on academic and organizational performance, supporting consistent, evidence-based authorizing decisions. The analyst brings senior-level expertise and operates with significant independence, working collaboratively across the OEI team.

Position Responsibilities

• Own financial oversight across the full school portfolio, including budget review, financial statement analysis, cash flow assessment, audit evaluation, and compliance with charter contracts and state reporting requirements.

• Monitor enrollment trends and financial implications, flagging risks and variances from projections with recommended oversight actions.

• Evaluate financial management practices, internal controls, and long-term fiscal planning.

• Provide senior analytical support on high-risk schools with multi-domain instability.

• Integrate financial analysis with academic and organizational performance context in renewal evaluations and high-stakes decisions.

• Support academic performance analysis for complex schools alongside the academic team.

• Must maintain confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. 7+ years of experience in education, finance, public sector analysis, or a related field. Strong financial analysis skills, including experience interpreting budgets, audits, cash flow statements, and enrollment-driven revenue models. Demonstrated ability to work across academic and financial domains in a school oversight or accountability context. Ability to synthesize complex, multi-domain information into clear, actionable conclusions. Strong written communication skills, particularly for formal reports and high-stakes decision documents. Ability to manage multiple priorities and exercise independent judgment in ambiguous or high-pressure situations.

Preferred Job Requirements and Qualifications

Master’s degree in public policy, education, finance, economics, or a related field preferred. Prior experience in charter school authorizing strongly preferred.
