Histotechnologist

Labcorp is seeking a Histotechnologist to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm. Job Duties / Responsibilities Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic exam Perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimens Section the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slide Process mounted sections through routine and special staining procedures Properly orient and embed surgical tissue specimens Prepare the stains and reagents needed for special procedures Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments Perform and document equipment maintenance as needed Record equipment log data in an accurate and timely manner Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis and reporting Document problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions when needed Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Histology OR a Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology with 1 or more years of histology experience Preferred Qualifications Current or prior Labcorp experience Histology and/or ASCP certifications Additional Job Standards Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment Immunohistochemistry experience Comfortability embedding both large and small specimens Ability to accurately read all labels and documents Highly organized with a strong attention to detail Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment Familiarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocols Able to pass a standardized color blindness test Compensation and Benefits Sign On Bonus: $5,000 (active Labcorp employees not eligible) Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), PTO or Flexible Time Off, Tuition Reimbursement, and Employee Stock Purchase Plan for employees regularly scheduled 20+ hours per week 401(k) Plan for employees scheduled All benefits except PTO or FTO for employees scheduled a 7‑on/7‑off schedule Equal Opportunity Employer Labcorp is a proud Equal Opportunity Employer: Labcorp strives for inclusion and belonging in the workforce and does not tolerate harassment or discrimination of any kind.
