Registered Nurse - Same Day Surgery

Overview : The position is for a Registered Nurse for Same Day Surgery at Sentara CarePlex Hospital in Hampton, VA. The role includes a generous sign‑on bonus and relocation assistance. Schedule & Hours Facility operates 0530-2100. Primary shift: daytime hours. Occasional evening shifts required. On‑call rotation required (details discussed during interview). Licenses & Certifications Virginia or Compact Multi‑State RN license in good standing. Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire. Education RN‑Associate’s Degree, RN‑Bachelor’s Degree, RN‑Diploma, or RN‑Master’s Degree. Role Summary Versatile and skilled Registered Nurse to join Same Day Surgery team. Rotates between Pre‑Operative Preparation and Phase II Recovery/Discharge, providing care across a diverse surgical population. Clinical Scope High acuity mix: vascular & oncology, orthopedics & general surgery, urology & gynecology, bariatrics. Key Responsibilities Pre‑Op Excellence: perform physical assessments, initiate IV access, ensure patients are clinically and emotionally prepared for surgery. Post‑Op Recovery: manage Phase II recovery with focus on pain management, hemodynamic stability, and surgical site monitoring. Specialized Care: adapt interventions based on specialty (e.g., mobility protocols for orthopedics, education for bariatric patients). Safe Discharge: educate patients and caregivers on post‑operative instructions, medications, and warning signs. Qualifications Active, unencumbered RN license. BLS and ACLS required.
