Our team delivers complex projects for federal agencies and military installations, managing everything from proposal development through subcontract administration and project execution. Position Summary Desbuild is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of federal construction projects. This role is based full-time at our Hyattsville, MD headquarters, with the expectation of regular travel to active job sites - including projects at Quantico and other installations throughout the DC metro region. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in federal contracting, a sharp eye for schedule and budget management, and enough field experience to speak credibly with site superintendents, subcontractors, and government client representatives alike. Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary point of accountability for assigned federal construction projects, from mobilization through closeout Develop, monitor, and update project schedules (e.g., P6-based baseline schedules) and manage the critical path Oversee project budgets, cost tracking, change order management, and pay applications Coordinate and manage subcontractors, ensuring compliance with subcontract terms, Davis-Bacon requirements, certified payroll submission, and FAR/DFARS flow-down clauses Serve as primary client-facing liaison with the Contracting Officer (CO), Contracting Officer's Representative (COR), and other government stakeholders Conduct regular site visits to project locations (including Quantico and other regional bases) to monitor progress, quality, safety, and site conditions Ensure compliance with federal contract requirements, security protocols, and base access procedures Support proposal development and pre-construction planning as needed, partnering with contract/project administration staff Manage submittals, RFIs, and project documentation in accordance with contract requirements Coordinate with Quality Control (QC) and Site Safety and Health Officers (SSHO) to maintain compliance on active sites Identify and mitigate project risks, escalating issues to senior leadership as appropriate Support close-out documentation, punch list resolution, and final acceptance processes Required Qualifications 7+ years of construction project management experience Demonstrated experience managing federal government construction contracts (DoD, GSA, or other federal agency work) Strong working knowledge of federal contracting requirements, including FAR/DFARS, Davis-Bacon Act, and certified payroll processes Proven experience managing project schedules, budgets, and subcontractor performance Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience interfacing directly with government clients (CO/COR) Proficiency with scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6) and standard project management/MS Office tools Willingness and ability to travel regularly to job sites in Quantico and the greater DC/MD/VA region, including military installations Ability to pass background checks required for base access; ability to obtain and maintain any security clearance or installation access credentials required by the contract This position is based onsite at Desbuild's Hyattsville, MD office. The role requires frequent travel to active project sites in the greater DC Maryland Virginia region as needed. Site visits may involve access to secured military installations; candidates should be prepared to complete any required base access and screening procedures.
