  • Diagnose and resolve equipment issues quickly to minimize production downtime and operational disruptions.
  • Differentiate between operator errors, hardware failures, fixturing problems, and software-related issues, escalating complex concerns to Test Engineering as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of support incidents, including symptoms, root causes, and corrective actions.
  • Identify recurring equipment issues and recognize trends that require long-term corrective solutions.
  • Review and assess existing preventive maintenance programs for all test stands to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive preventive maintenance plans tailored to the configuration and usage requirements of each test system.
  • Establish maintenance schedules based on usage metrics, failure history, and calendar intervals.
  • Partner with Test Engineering to ensure preventive maintenance plans remain aligned with equipment design, upgrades, and modifications.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on production and service test stands according to established procedures.
  • Inspect, clean, and replace wear items such as connectors, cables, contact surfaces, and fixturing components.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with production teams to minimize impact on manufacturing throughput.
  • Verify equipment functionality and performance before returning systems to service.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance records, including service history, replaced components, and observed anomalies.
  • Ensure maintenance documentation remains current, accurate, and accessible to engineering and leadership teams.
  • Analyze maintenance trends to proactively identify equipment at risk of failure.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by updating procedures, checklists, and documentation based on operational experience.
  • Develop and conduct training for test operators on proper test stand operation, handling, routine inspections, and identification of potential issues.
  • Create operator-facing materials such as quick-reference guides, maintenance checklists, and instructional resources.
  • Promote a culture of equipment ownership and accountability to improve reliability and test quality.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support, serving as a trusted resource for test stand-related questions and troubleshooting assistance.

Essential Skills

  • Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent hands-on experience in Electronics, Electrical Technology, Avionics, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting, maintaining, or operating automated test equipment in a manufacturing, production, or service environment.
  • Strong understanding of RF and electronic test equipment, including instrument functionality and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Experience working with RF connectors, cables, fixturing, and replacement of wear-prone components.
  • Familiarity with test system hardware architecture, signal routing, switching systems, and cabling practices.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills with the ability to systematically diagnose and resolve equipment issues using technical documentation, test instruments, and practical experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with a focus on reliability, documentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with operators, technicians, engineers, and production leadership.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience performing preventive maintenance on test stands and test equipment.
  • Experience in working with test equipment and test stands in RF, communications, electronics, or electrical environments.
  • Ability to develop and deliver operator training, including creating clear instructional and reference materials.
  • Comfort working in a structured manufacturing or engineering test environment supporting sophisticated communications products.
  • Commitment to maintaining thorough records and contributing to ongoing process and equipment improvements.

Work Environment
