Position Summary: As an Intake Screener, this individual serves as the primary point of contact between residential treatment agencies and patients throughout the admission eligibility process. Key responsibilities include explaining the referral process to prospective patients and partner agencies, reviewing incoming referrals to determine appropriateness for admission, verifying that all required documentation is complete and accurate, requesting additional information from referral sources when needed, and collaborating closely with counselors and clinical supervisors to ensure a smooth intake experience Organizational Structure/Reporting Relationships: This position reports to the SUDP Director and has no direct reports. Job Responsibilities Establish and cultivate strong working relationships with detox and residential treatment agencies. Coordinate detox services and bed dates with patients and residential facilities prior to admission, as needed. Assess financial eligibility and verify insurance coverage. Collect all documentation required to support pre-authorization requests. Accurately and promptly document all assessments and referrals in the assessment-caseload-referral tracking tool. Maintain and update a comprehensive referral database, tracking documentation timelines, residential placements, secured bed dates, and verified admission dates. Manage referrals by maintaining regular communication with residential treatment agencies regarding admission status and bed availability. Coordinate with patients and residential referral sources to ensure continuity of care prior to discharge from residential treatment. Support the service transfer process between patients and receiving agencies, ensuring all required releases of information (ROIs) are properly completed. Assist the BH Care Coordinator with scheduling intake, individual, and group therapy appointments. Perform administrative duties, including requesting criminal record information from the Judicial Information System (JIS) for SUD clinicians and maintaining referral listings for DUI assessments, co-occurring treatment agencies, and detox agencies. Requirements Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in an administrative, intake, admissions, or customer service role. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients, families, referral sources, and multidisciplinary team members. Effective organizational and time management skills, with the ability to independently prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously. Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, documentation, and record-keeping. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of Behavioral Health Records in compliance with 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, and Privacy Act requirements. Ability to read and interpret policy and procedure documents, and to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to work effectively with American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) populations, with a willingness to learn about relevant cultural customs, beliefs, and practices; knowledge of AI/AN history and culture preferred. Work Environment: The Intake Screener works in a clinical/office setting within SIHB's Behavioral Health Programs. The SUD Department operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional additional hours required for events, Saturday clinic coverage, and to meet deadlines. #J-18808-Ljbffr Kids for the Future
