Description The Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet (EEC) improves the quality of life for all Kentuckians by protecting land, air, and water resources and supporting sustainable energy solutions. Responsibilities Serve as a technical advisor to conservation districts and watershed conservancy districts. Research and answer questions about federal and state conservation programs. Create and present training modules for district officials and employees. Work with landowners and agriculture producers to navigate federal and state conservation programs. Desired Candidate Good communication skills and ability to work with Microsoft Office programs. Agricultural knowledge or background. Ability to work with a variety of people from different backgrounds. Minimum Requirements Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a natural, biological, or physical science OR supplemented by 20 semester hours in those fields. One year of experience in natural resources, environmental control, or a related area. Graduate study in a natural, biological, or physical science can substitute for experience on a year‑for‑year basis. Experience in natural resources, environmental control, engineering, or a related area can substitute for education on a year‑for‑year basis. Working Conditions Work is typically performed in an office setting, but may involve field work with frequent statewide travel and exposure to adverse weather conditions, wildlife, water‑borne pathogens, and hazards associated with electro‑fishing equipment. Safety procedures must be followed. Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months.
