Schedule:

0630-1500 or 1100-1930 M-F
On-Call: 50 hours/yr
Weekends and Holidays only if On-Call
May require Over Time up to 300 hours/yr

Requirements:

Education:

Graduation from an Anesthesia training program approved by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) and Current Certification as a Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) or as a Certified Anesthesia Technologist (Cer. A.TT.) through the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) and a minimum of one (1) year experience as an anesthesia technician or as a medical technician with operating room and logistic experience within the last three (3) years

Experience:

Have a minimum of two (2) years of experience as an anesthesia technician or as a medical technician with operating room and logistic experience within the last five (5) years, or be a graduate of an ASATT approved two (2) year educational program of study in Anesthesia.

Job Duties:

Responsible for pre-operative set-up of all anesthesia equipment and supplies in both the Surgical Suite and Labor and Delivery. Will clean and replace used material as needed.
Assists anesthesia provider with airway obstructions. Assists with patient positioning during airway management in the operating room. Assists with bag-mask ventilation during the induction phase of anesthesia and appropriate oxygen delivery. Speaks with anesthesia provider prior to every surgery to determine and assist with various intubation modalities. Apply techniques and assistance to anesthesia provider during all emergent inductions including but not limited to RSI (rapid sequence induction), laryngospasm, and bronchospasm. Has in-depth knowledge of all equipment used for nasal intubations and assists accordingly.
Readies operating rooms and appropriate equipment based on the daily schedule. Responds to the needs of anesthesia providers during surgery. Experienced in adult and pediatric populations, advanced procedures, aseptic technique, quality control and patient safety of anesthetic equipment during invasive and non-invasive procedures.
In-depth knowledge of equipment, supplies, invasive line placement, knowledge and assistance in regional and neuraxial anesthesia techniques, and adaptability between all surgical cases.
Assists in fluid management plan, possible complications, and assists in support of rapid infusion fluid management.
Performs daily compliance checks and calibration on anesthesia machine. Replaces malfunctioning equipment. Troubleshoots machine malfunctions. Performs routine cleaning and operator maintenance of all anesthesia machines.
Keeps Anesthesia Element Chief apprised of malfunctions. Urgently replaces machines and equipment when necessary.
Cleans and restocks anesthesia machines and equipment carts at the end of the day. Cleans and replaces used equipment.
Evaluates each upcoming procedures and communicates stock and sterile supply needed prior to surgical procedure date.
Maintains appropriate levels of non-controlled drugs as established by anesthesia providers. Checks drug stock levels daily and orders needed items from the pharmacy. Appropriately identifies and discards outdated drugs by performing checks at least monthly.
