Overview Database Administrator role at MTK Technologies. We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to support our database infrastructure and ensure optimal performance, availability, and security. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in PostgreSQL administration and have hands-on experience managing databases in high-availability, production environments. Responsibilities Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL databases across development, testing, and production environments. Perform regular database maintenance tasks including backups, restores, vacuuming, and indexing. Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and configuration adjustments. Monitor database health and respond to performance alerts and outages. Ensure high availability and disaster recovery planning, including replication and failover configuration. Implement and maintain security best practices for data protection and access control. Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to support database-related needs in CI/CD pipelines. Write and maintain documentation on processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps. Qualifications Proven experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in production environments. Deep understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, internals, and best practices. Proficiency with PostgreSQL tools such as pgAdmin, pgBackRest, pgBouncer, etc. Strong experience with backup/recovery, replication, and disaster recovery strategies. Expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing. Experience with Linux-based systems and scripting (Bash, Python preferred). Familiarity with cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) is a plus. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to work onsite 5 days/week in either Austin, TX or Cupertino, CA. Nice to Have Experience with migration projects (e.g., Oracle to PostgreSQL). Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, and modern DevOps tools. Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or New Relic.
