TX-STAR Speech Language Services partners with school districts throughout Texas to provide accessible, individualized educational support for students with diverse learning and communication needs. We are currently seeking Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for school-based opportunities in the Dallas area and other communities across Texas.

These positions are ideal for educators who are committed to improving communication access, promoting inclusion, and helping students who are deaf or hard of hearing participate fully in their educational programs.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, you will provide specialized instruction, consultation, and accessibility support based on each student's academic and communication needs.

In this role, you will:

• Deliver direct and consultative instructional services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing

• Complete assessments to identify students' academic strengths, communication needs, and areas requiring additional support

• Modify lessons, materials, and instructional strategies to improve accessibility and classroom participation

• Implement goals, services, accommodations, and modifications included in students' Individualized Education Programs

• Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, interpreters, related-service providers, and campus personnel

• Recommend strategies that improve access to classroom discussions, assignments, and school activities

• Participate in ARD and IEP meetings and provide progress updates, observations, and educational recommendations

• Support communication development through spoken language, sign language, or a combination of approaches based on individual needs

• Incorporate assistive listening devices, visual supports, adaptive equipment, and other accessibility resources

• Maintain accurate assessment reports, service records, progress updates, and required compliance documentation

Qualifications for This Position

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

• Current Texas teaching certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education or Auditory Impairments

• Knowledge of specialized instructional practices for students with hearing differences

• Understanding of IEP procedures, accommodations, accessibility needs, and school-based special education services

• Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, administrators, families, and multidisciplinary teams

• Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and interpersonal skills

• Previous experience supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing is preferred

• Proficiency in sign language is a plus
