Position: Lifeguard

Reports to: Coordinator - Trojan Aquatic Center

Supervises: None

Qualifications:

1. High School diploma or GED required.
2. Current certification in America Red Cross Lifeguarding and First Aid (or equivalent) required.
3. Current certification in American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent) required.
4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
5. Demonstrated ability in working with young children, parents and community members.
6. Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Position Goal: To maintain a positive and safe environment for all patrons.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Performs surveillance of patrons in the swimming pool facility.
2. Recognizes emergencies and responds quickly and effectively to all emergencies.
3. Enforces all swimming pool facility policies, rules and regulations.
4. Performs opening and closing duties including equipment set up.
5. Assists patrons in a friendly manner without compromising surveillance duties.
6. Inspects the swimming pool facility daily and reports any unsafe conditions or equipment to the Aquatics Coordinator.
7. Completes records and reports in a professional manner.
8. Participates in regular in-service training.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.
