Job Summary: A sleep technologist specializes in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating sleep disorders through comprehensive sleep studies, including in-center and home sleep apnea testing. They provide patient education, oversee testing procedures, and ensure high-quality data collection and interpretation. Responsibilities: Conduct and oversee sleep studies, including preparation, patient positioning, and equipment calibration. Review patient histories, medical necessity, and insurance authorization to ensure appropriate testing. Monitor and document physiological data, behavioral observations, and test parameters in real-time. Score sleep/wake stages and clinical events following professional guidelines to generate accurate reports. Maintain safety, infection control, and quality assurance standards through equipment cleaning and documentation. Support patient education on sleep devices and interventions, ensuring understanding and adherence. Qualifications: Hold a minimum of one year of relevant sleep laboratory experience. Possess an Associate’s Degree in Polysomnographic Technology or completion of a certificate program in the field. Be credentialed as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist, Registered Sleep Technologist, or hold a BLS certification. Demonstrate proficiency in performing ancillary testing such as oximetry, actigraphy, and home sleep apnea testing.
