A respected legal team in Novato, CA is seeking a Bilingual Paralegal for a temp-to-hire opportunity supporting personal injury and wrongful death cases. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented legal professional who is fluent in English and Spanish and enjoys managing cases from intake through trial preparation and resolution. The Bilingual Paralegal will work closely with attorneys, partners, managers, supervisors, and support staff in a collaborative, team-focused environment. Key Responsibilities - Manage an assigned caseload of personal injury and wrongful death matters from intake through trial preparation and case resolution.- Communicate with clients in English and Spanish, conduct phone interviews, explain case flow procedures, and prepare clear written notes.
- Track internal, court, and Code of Civil Procedure deadlines to ensure timely case progression and trial readiness.
- Order, subpoena, review, and organize records, including medical records, billing records, employment records, economic loss records, pathology materials, and films.
- Prepare and review legal documents, pleadings, correspondence, case management statements, DOE amendments, 998 offers, witness disclosures, exhibit lists, and trial materials.
- Perform e-service, e-filing, case management system updates, file reviews, deposition coordination support, OSC reviews, and follow-up on attorney or supervisor directives.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Manage personal injury and wrongful death case files from intake through resolution.- Prepare pleadings, correspondence, discovery-related materials, trial documents, and case management filings.
- Track court deadlines, internal deadlines, deposition schedules, and trial readiness tasks.
- Communicate regularly with clients, attorneys, court personnel, defense counsel, and internal legal support teams. - Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, including the ability to speak, read, and write professionally in both languages.
- Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate required, or equivalent qualifying experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of office experience required, with prior law firm experience strongly valued.
- 1 to 2 years of relevant legal support or paralegal experience preferred for this level.
- Strong computer skills, including WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, and other office or legal software programs.
- Typing speed of at least 45 WPM.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate written notes, legal documents, and case updates.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven legal environment.
- Ability to manage a high volume of work, multitask effectively, and remain organized under pressure.
- Professional communication skills and the ability to interact with clients who may be seriously ill or experiencing sensitive family circumstances. Preferred Qualifications - Prior experience in a plaintiff-side personal injury, wrongful death, civil litigation, or trial preparation environment.
- Experience with e-filing, e-service, subpoena preparation, medical record requests, and court deadline tracking.
- Familiarity with case management systems and California civil litigation procedures.
- Experience preparing cases for Case Management Conferences, Trial Setting Conferences, preference motions, depositions, and trial.
