Payroll Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Manager within the government and public sector. This role is ideal for a payroll and accounting professional who enjoys accuracy, compliance, confidentiality, and supporting financial operations in a focused environment.

The Payroll Manager will help oversee payroll-related functions, fund accounts, reconciliations, while providing financial reporting support. Key Responsibilities

- Oversee and monitor fund accounts and related office financial activity.
- Manage and monitor financial software systems used for payroll, accounting, and reporting functions.
- Responsible for monthly reconciliation of bank statements and assistance with additional monthly statement reconciliations.
- Assist with payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable procedures.
- Assist with preparing financial reports and maintaining accurate payroll and accounting records.
- Prepare computations and balance reports related to leaves of absence and annual sick leave accruals.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $52,000 to $81,120 per year doe. 
- Job type: Direct hire.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Minimum high school diploma required.
- Minimum of 3 years of general accounting or payroll experience required.
- Valid Nevada driver’s license required.
- Ability to complete state and federal criminal background checks.
- Compliance with drug and alcohol testing policy required.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws, policies, record retention requirements, and payroll procedures.
- Proficiency with computer programs and payroll or accounting software systems.
- Strong math computation, reconciliation, and basic statistical analysis skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and manage detailed work accurately.
- Familiarity with confidentiality requirements in an education setting, including FERPA, HIPAA, and related guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in a public sector, or government environment.
- Prior experience working with funds or restricted fund accounting.
- Experience preparing payroll reports, leave reports, reconciliations, or audit-ready financial documentation.
- Strong understanding of confidentiality, compliance, and record retention practices in a regulated environment.
