Job Goal:

The ISI Monitor is responsible for ensuring that students that are placed in the In-School Intervention Program work on study habits, classroom behavior skills, and a positive self-image. This position is also responsible for coordinating student receipt and completion/progress of classroom assignments and activities.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field required.
2. Previous experience working with students in an educational or youth development setting preferred.
3. Ability to effectively supervise children.
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
5. Knowledge of intervention strategies, behavior management techniques, and educational assessments.
6. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
7. Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students in reaching their full potential.
8. Flexibility and adaptability in responding to the evolving needs of students and the school community.
9. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
10. Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
11. Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
12. Ability to work well with students, staff, and other stakeholders in a professional manner.
13. Ability to identify and solve problems as a productive team member.
14. Computer proficiency and ability to work effectively in a learning environment.
15. Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities.
16. Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
17. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.

Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

1. Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals, and priorities.
2. Assists with crisis prevention and intervention as needed.
3. Demonstrates initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
4. Coordinates assignments and activities with classroom teachers of assigned students; provides tutorial assistance as needed and monitors class work.
5. Assists students in examining misbehavior and developing strategies to prevent reoccurences.
6. Serves as a member of assessment and support teams with the school.
7. Demonstrates appropriate organizational and time management skills.
8. Actively supervises students during assigned duty before, during and/or after school as directed.
9. Supervises and/or assists with extracurricular and co-curricular activities and assigned.
10. Attends staff development programs, workshops, and conferences to improve professional performance and knowledge.
11. Serves on school and/or system committees, advisory boards, and/or task forces as needed.
12. Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
13. Demonstrates initiative in identifying potential problems and/or opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
14. Engages in professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and effective leadership.
15. Reports potential problems, unusual events, or work irregularities to appropriate administrative or supervisory personnel.
16. Responds to inquiries, requests, constructive feedback, concerns and/or complaints in a timely and positive manner.
17. Maintains and submits reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
18. Properly uses and cares for equipment and material resources of the school system and effectively supervises and monitors others in the care, maintenance, and use of tools, equipment, and inventory.
19. Uses effective collaboration skills to work as a productive team member.
20. Serves on school system committees, tasks forces, and representative groups as required.
21. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations.
22. Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
23. Performs any other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).

Terms of Employment : Nine-month position in accordance with the Board's salary schedule.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the State Department of Education and/or Tuscaloosa County Board of Education policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
