Medical Surgical Nurse

Job Summary and Responsibilities As a Medical Surgical Nurse at CHI St Vincent, you will provide care to patients admitted to the unit. Most patients are forwarded from other units, giving you the opportunity to build on your education and experience in specialized service lines such as cardiac, telemetry, orthopedics, neurology, critical care, surgical services, and emergency. Your success comes from enthusiasm to help others, a patient‑first mindset, keen assessment skills, critical thinking, and sense of urgency. You thrive in a fast‑paced clinical environment where you will rarely experience the same day twice. Responsibilities Deliver the best possible care to your set of assigned patients. Administer medications, change dressings, monitor vital signs, and chart with timely documentation. Collaborate with a variety of other healthcare professionals such as social work, care coordination, physical therapy, occupational therapy, lab, respiratory therapy, and imaging. Basic Life Support - CPR within 30 days. Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 12 months. 1 year of acute care experience required (or new graduates/have never worked in acute care will be hired through residency training program).
