Cloud Operations Engineer

: ICF's Digital Modernization division is a rapidly growing, entrepreneurial technology department, seeking a Cloud Operations Engineer to lead and support upcoming needs with our federal customers. As a Cloud Operations Engineer, you will be supporting our team's execution of systems support for customers using Cloud-based systems (AWS, GCP, Azure) at the National Cancer Institute. This includes responding to assigned systems support tickets, working directly with customers, and supporting assigned projects. You will be responsible for building and extending CI/CD pipelines and supporting cloud build and deployment activities. You should be well versed in conducting value stream analysis and designing and implementing DevSecOps capabilities. You should be comfortable working in an Agile environment and using its related tools. This is a hybrid position. Currently, the team meets in the Rockville, MD office once a week. Candidates in the Washington DC metro area is preferred. What you'll be doing:

• Analyzing, developing, modifying, testing, and maintaining systems, including software patches, builds and upgrades.
• Ensuring the systems meet internal and external requirements.
• Diagnosing issues that arise and providing recommendations for improvement on existing and new systems.

What you must have:

• Must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance
• 3+ years of systems engineering experience using one or more of the following virtual computer hosting platform technologies: AWS, GCP, Azure, and/or VMWare within an operational environment.
• 3+ years of web/application engineering experience using one or more of the following virtual computer hosting platform technologies: AWS, GCP, Azure, and/or VMWare within an operational environment.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with the engineering and support of common Web and Application hosting services activities (covering areas such as IIS, Apache, Tomcat, SSL certificates, Application Load Balancers, API services, container, and cluster services, etc.)
• 3+ years of experience with CI/CD tools such as CircleCL, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Argo, AWS CodePipeline, AWS CodeDeploy, etc.
• 1+ year of experience with the AWS PaaS ecosystems of technologies (i.e., AWS Native services)
• 1+ years of experience deploying software development tools utilizing Docker.
• 1+ years of experience with Git and related tools (e.g., GitHub, BitBucket, VSCode, etc.)

What we'd like you to have:

• 5+ years' experience with developing and operating solutions for virtual compute platforms
• 1 or more AWS/GCP/Azure specialty certifications (SysOps Administrator, Security, Advanced Networking, DevOps Engineer, Administration, Architecture)
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, etc.)
• Proficiency in working with tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Proficiency with scripting languages such as Shell, Terraform, Python
• Proficiency with cloud networking (DNS, TCP, Firewalls, Proxy Servers, Load Balancing, VPN, and VPC), storage, security, and compute
• Knowledge of systems architecture and proficiency with on-prem and cloud services and technologies including but not limited to the following virtual services: computer, networking (DNS, TCP, Firewalls, ports, VPN, vNetworks), storage, and security.
• Experience working with and supporting Agile development teams.
• Experience offering customer support and responding to service tickets.
• Ability to learn quickly, understand, and work with new emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the cloud/IT technology space.
• The ability to proactively communicate with federal clients and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment with a shifting landscape.
• The ability to work closely with and explain technical concepts/solutions to on-technical client stakeholders.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
