Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 10/19/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) to join our team. This position involves providing exceptional nursing care to patients with diverse medical needs, including cardiac and vascular conditions. General Information Beds: 44 Minimum Experience: 1.5 years of general nursing experience and 1 year in PCU First-Time Traveler: Accepted with 2 years of experience Distance Requirements: Travelers must live 100 miles away from any facility Permanent Staff: Must wait 1 full year to return as a traveler Patient Types This is a mixed acuity unit that includes: Intermediate Care acuity Telemetry and MedSurg patients Direct admits, ED admits, and post-cath lab patients Conditions treated include MI, NSTEMI, STEMI, CHF, and dysrhythmia management Responsibilities Provide care for post-cardiac/vascular, post-cardiac cath patients, and those who have undergone open heart surgery. Manage patients requiring titratable cardiac and vasoactive medications. Conduct cardiac rhythm interpretation and manage chest tubes. Administer TNK and other relevant medications as prescribed. Patient Ratios RN to patient ratio of 1:4, can be adjusted to 1:3 based on acuity Required Certifications BLS ACLS NIHSS Required Education Completion of a nursing education program approved by the board of nursing; must possess an active Registered Nurse (RN) license. Skills Required Experience with cardiac procedural recovery (CABG, TAVR, post-cardiac cath) Knowledge of MI pharmacology and titratable medications Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms Chest tube management Experience with heparin infusions and related treatments Unit Support CNA support with a patient ratio of 1:5-8 (depending on the shift) Phlebotomy available for peripheral blood draws Resource Nurse available occasionally Tele tech overseeing cardiac monitoring RT available 24/7 Hospitalist available on-site 24/7 Charting System/Equipment Epic (experience preferred, please inform if lacking experience) Alaris Omnicell Orientation Orientation includes 2 partial days of education followed by 3 twelve-hour shifts on the unit.
