Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)Job Summary:Under the guidance of the nurse manager, the Emergency Department Registered Nurse performs a comprehensive range of direct and indirect patient care activities aligned with established standards. This role requires the ability to function independently in the fast-paced environment of the Emergency Department and demands strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills, as well as teamwork.Essential Functions:Conducts assessments (and reassessments), plans, implements, and evaluates nursing interventions and plans of care based on patient goals.Delivers patient care adhering to standards of practice, protocols, and established policies and procedures.Respects patient individuality and provides care that supports dignity and positive self-regard.Educates patients and families based on identified learning needs and readiness to learn.Collaboratively plans for patient/family discharge, incorporating necessary support systems and resources.Delegates and supervises nursing interventions performed by team members as appropriate.Prioritizes patient care effectively, seeking assistance and reallocating resources as necessary.Documents all pertinent patient data, therapeutic interventions, and responses according to established standards.Shares detailed reports on assigned patients with other healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care.Promotes professional development and learning for colleagues and themselves.Identifies and addresses potential risks to patient safety and opportunities to reduce healthcare errors.Recognizes and addresses ethical issues in patient care.Administers medications and intravenous therapy safely according to physician orders and protocols.Assesses and documents patient pain levels and responds to pain management needs promptly.Conducts initial assessments upon patient arrival, implementing triage protocols as needed.Identifies patients at risk for abuse and initiates appropriate safety plans.Completes mandated reporting for incidents such as domestic violence, child, and elder abuse.Maintains knowledge of disaster policies and procedures.Recognizes and manages patients at risk for violent behavior using appropriate interventions.Interprets laboratory and diagnostic results, notifying physicians of significant changes.Administers and monitors vasoactive medications according to established protocols.Monitors and documents thrombolytic and anticoagulation therapy according to standards.Demonstrates proficiency in managing intubated patients and associated procedures.Implements and adheres to infection control bundles and protocols.Physical Requirements:Ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 10 to 25 pounds frequently.Frequent reaching, handling, and feeling required for patient care.Occasional stooping, kneeling, and color distinction.Organizational Expectations:Exhibit achievement motivation and concern for order.Demonstrate flexibility, initiative, and self-confidence.Maintain a customer service orientation and effective interpersonal skills.Engage in teamwork, analytical thinking, and information seeking.Job Requirements:Minimum Education: Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.Minimum Work Experience: 3-5 years of experience in the Emergency Department preferred.Licenses and Certifications: Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice required.ACLS upon hire or an active BLS and obtain AHA ACLS within 60 days of hire.AHA PALS within six months of hire.TNCC, ENPC, and CEN certifications preferred.Client Details City Athol State MA
