Tax Preparer

This position involves providing comprehensive bookkeeping and tax preparation services for small businesses and individual clients. You will be tasked with managing recurring financial records and ensuring tax filings are accurate and submitted on time, while maintaining regular contact with clients to facilitate these processes. Candidates holding an active Enrolled Agent designation are highly preferred. Role Summary This position involves providing comprehensive bookkeeping and tax preparation services for small businesses and individual clients. You will be tasked with managing recurring financial records and ensuring tax filings are accurate and submitted on time, while maintaining regular contact with clients to facilitate these processes. Core Duties Complete federal and state tax filings for individuals and small businesses, adhering to established firm review protocols. Ensure high-quality returns by collecting necessary client documentation and keeping detailed, organized workpapers. Help maintain the financial health of our clients by managing QuickBooks accounts, performing reconciliations, and generating routine reports. Prepare client records for tax season by cleaning up data, reconciling year-end balances, and creating necessary schedules. Foster strong client relationships by addressing accounting inquiries and coordinating with senior team members on complex issues. Contribute to tax planning and estimated tax calculations while assisting with the resolution of tax notices. Provide support for payroll reconciliations and associated filings for your specific client list. Ensure all client deadlines are met through diligent time management, strict confidentiality, and precise documentation. Required Skills and Experience Proven background in small business bookkeeping and individual tax preparation, ideally within a public accounting or tax firm setting. Proficiency in financial statement preparation, account reconciliation, and QuickBooks software. Technical familiarity with Excel, QuickBooks, and tax software platforms such as Drake or UltraTax. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members while maintaining high organizational standards. Preference for candidates with an active Enrolled Agent credential, though those with equivalent relevant experience are welcome to apply.
