CDL Tractor-Trailer Driver – Home Daily

Pay: $26.50 / Hour
Schedule: Tuesday–Friday | Early Morning Start | Home Daily | Overtime as Needed
Location: Salem, VA

Layman Distributing is looking for a dependable, safety-focused CDL Tractor-Trailer Driver to join our transportation team. If you’re looking for a CDL position that gets you home every night, this is a great opportunity.

Our CDL drivers leave our Salem warehouse early in the morning and transport product by tractor-trailer to Layman delivery hubs and other designated locations. There are no overnight routes .

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a tractor-trailer to transport product from our Salem warehouse to designated delivery hubs
• Complete scheduled runs safely, efficiently, and on time
• Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Ensure loads are secure and transported safely
• Assist with verifying freight and delivery documentation as needed
• Communicate with warehouse, transportation, and hub personnel regarding deliveries, delays, or issues
• Maintain accurate driver logs and required DOT documentation
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned equipment
• Follow all DOT, FMCSA, traffic, and company safety regulations
• Report vehicle maintenance or safety concerns promptly
• Assist with unloading or freight handling when required

What We're Looking For

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) appropriate for the equipment being operated
• Clean and acceptable driving record
• Previous tractor-trailer driving experience
• Strong commitment to safe driving practices
• Dependable and punctual, with the ability to report for early morning departures
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Comfortable working overtime as needed
• Ability to communicate effectively with warehouse and delivery personnel
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when necessary
• Must meet all applicable DOT and company requirements
