A global manufacturer of advanced materials for semiconductor packaging is hiring a machine vision engineer in Piscataway, New Jersey. The company designs and builds its own production equipment, so the inspection system is yours: the cameras, the lighting, the accept and reject logic, and the hardware that pulls bad material off the line.

\n

\n

\n

The material is thin, soft, and moving fast. It deforms when handled, it scratches, and the parts keep getting smaller as customers push the technology. Defects that were acceptable two years ago are not acceptable now.

\n

\n

That makes this a genuinely hard vision problem. Lighting and optics have to resolve surface defects on a soft, variable material at line speed. The accept and reject thresholds have to be tight enough to catch real defects and loose enough that you are not rejecting good product. You will spend real time on both.

\n

\n

This is new territory for the company. There is no legacy system to maintain. You are building it.

\n

\n

\n

\n

- You have aligned cameras, chosen lighting, and tuned thresholds on a production line, not in a lab.

\n

- You think in false rejects and false accepts, and you keep tuning until both numbers are where they need to be.

\n

- You can sit with quality control and turn "this one is bad" into a rule a machine can apply.

\n

- You work comfortably alongside automation and mechanical engineers, and you can hold your own with a programmer on ladder logic and if-then logic even if you are not writing it yourself.

\n

- Travel does not bother you.

\n

If you are an applications, field service, or commissioning engineer at a vision or sensor company, this is a way off the road without giving up the technical work. You already install, align, and tune these systems for a living. Here you own one system deeply instead of touching fifty briefly, with a home base in New Jersey.

\n

- Camera and lighting selection, alignment, and optical setup for high-speed inspection on production lines

\n

- Defect criteria defined with quality control, and the detection logic that enforces them

\n

- Rejection and alerting, so defective material comes off the line automatically

\n

- Integration with the automation and mechanical teams who build the equipment around your system

\n

- Commissioning and qualification of new inspection systems at manufacturing sites

\n

- Troubleshooting live issues, including at customer sites when inspection is implicated

\n

- Ongoing tuning as products change and tolerances tighten

\n

\n

\n

\n

- Three or more years designing, building, or commissioning camera-based inspection systems

\n

- Hands-on work with industrial vision platforms such as Keyence, Cognex, ISRA Vision, AMETEK Surface Vision, Teledyne DALSA, Basler, Omron, or similar

\n

- A working understanding of automation and mechanical integration, and enough fluency in ladder logic and control logic to work with the people writing it

\n

- A bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field

\n

- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship, now or in the future

\n

- A valid passport and willingness to travel internationally, up to roughly 30 percent

\n

\n

\n

\n

- Line scan camera work, or web, strip, or surface inspection of moving material

\n

- Inspection of soft, thin, or easily deformed materials: foil, film, coated substrates, battery electrode, precious metal

\n

- Electronics, semiconductor, or high-volume precision manufacturing background

\n

- Vendor-side or systems integrator experience commissioning vision systems at customer sites

\n

- Gage R&R, capability studies, or formal inspection system qualification

\n

\n

\n

\n

- Base salary of $95,000 to $140,000, depending on experience

\n

- Performance-related annual bonus

\n
