As a 3PL, we specialize in full truckload (TL), less-than-truckload (LTL), drayage, rail, and international ground and air freight. Please note that this role is a 100% on-site role located in our corporate office in Kentwood, MI. We're currently hiring for Fall 2026 and Winter 2027! As a Sales Intern at FWF, you will learn the fundamentals of sales prospecting, qualifying, and opportunity generation, as well as exposure to sales presenting and closing. This internship is designed to give you hands-on experience in identifying potential clients, understanding their needs, and setting up qualified meetings for our full-time sales team. It best suits aspiring sales professionals looking to develop core sales skills through collaborative, hands-on experience. This role is compensated at an hourly base rate plus commission and bonuses. We currently have three start dates available for fall interns: August 24, 2026 (application deadline Aug 20) September 8, 2026 (application deadline Sept 3) September 21, 2026 (application deadline Sept 17) Responsibilities Research and identify potential leads through various lead‑generation platforms Qualify leads by assessing needs and determining their fit with FWF services Outreach to prospective clients via cold calls, emails, and social media Maintain accurate and updated lead information in company CRM Set appointments with qualified prospects and collaborate with our sales team on meeting preparation and presentation Track and report on outreach activities and lead progress Collaborate with tenured sales roles on pricing and negotiation strategies Maintain a healthy pipeline of prospects and opportunities that drive customer onboarding Work closely with sales, marketing, and training teams to align on sales strategies and messaging Attend training sessions on sales techniques, industry knowledge and market insights Shadow experienced sales professionals to learn best practices Qualifications Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Sales, Supply Chain, Marketing, Communications, or a related field Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Competitive - You like to win without taking shortcuts Humble - You are eager to learn and seek constructive feedback Self-starter - You’re not afraid to make mistakes, and you learn from them Problem-solver - You may not have all the answers, but you’re willing to find them Resilient - You don’t take rejection as failure and can maintain posture through challenges Familiarity with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) is a plus but not required Skills You Will Develop Prospecting Cold Calling Lead Qualifying Opportunity Generation Sales Presenting Pipeline Management Compensation $15/hour base rate Hourly pay increases to $17/hour if you stay at FWF for a second semester $125 per conversion Up to $600 in bonuses for each successful conversion you get as a sales intern (Sales Interns at FWF average $800+ in bonuses per semester, with some exceeding $3,000 per semester) Financially-incentivized sales competitions for interns Benefits Comprehensive sales and industry training Opportunity to work alongside an experienced sales mentor Access to all FWF events & amenities $100 of FWF swag upon start Direct path to a full-time role post-internship, with 5% uncapped commission on your intern-acquired accounts in perpetuity, 6% uncapped commission on your new accounts, and a $60k base salary 401k plus company match available after 90 days employment Earned paid sick time Awards and Recognition Inc. 5000 Fastest- Growing Private Companies in America Inc. 5000 Regionals: Midwest A Transport Topics Top Freight Brokerage Firm Top Company for Women to Work for in Transportation Detroit Free Press Top Workplaces Michigan Celebrates Small Business 50 Companies to Watch West Michigan's Best and Brightest Companies to Work For At FWF, we embrace diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment where every individual is respected and valued.
