Position: Nuclear Medicine Technologist
We are seeking a qualified and dependable Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform PET (Positron Emission Tomography) imaging in an outpatient medical setting. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will be responsible for safely performing PET scans, preparing patients for procedures, administering radiopharmaceuticals as permitted by applicable regulations and licensure, operating imaging equipment, and producing high-quality diagnostic images for physician interpretation.
Schedule: Begin Training in West Hills and move forward to Thousand Oaks after.
Essential Duties:
- Perform PET imaging procedures according to physician orders and established protocols.
- Prepare and position patients appropriately for PET scans.
- Explain procedures to patients and answer questions to help ensure patient comfort and cooperation.
- Operate PET imaging equipment and associated computer systems.
- Prepare, handle, measure, and administer radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with applicable regulations, licensing requirements, and facility policies.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct patient interviews, communicating clearly and compassionately with patients of all ages to explain procedures, provide reassurance, and promote a positive experience.
- Assess patient BP, pulse, respirations, lungs, and establish Peripheral Intravenous (IV) access
- Prepare and administer pharmacological stress agent medications with accurate dose calculations while abiding by appropriate practice guidelines and safety regulations
- Apply ACLS measures to patients when directed by the assigned physician
- Review Nuclear Medicine images, while monitoring accuracy, and ensuring appropriate collaboration and communication with the physicians, especially when sending test readings
- Abide by and stay up to date with best practices and updated compliance and safety regulations in a Cardiology setting with nuclear machinery
- Handle, prepare, witness, and administer adjunctive medications under direct physician supervision.
- Perform patient imaging and therapeutic procedures, including computer processing and image enhancement.
- Follow all radiation safety and ALARA principles when handling radioactive materials.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after imaging procedures and recognize situations requiring additional medical attention.
- Review images for technical quality and obtain additional images when necessary.
- Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, radiopharmaceutical doses, patient information, and other required records.
- Perform required quality-control procedures on imaging and radiation-detection equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe imaging environment.
- Follow infection-control, HIPAA, OSHA, radiation-safety, and facility policies and procedures.
- Assist with maintaining appropriate inventory of radiopharmaceutical and imaging supplies.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, front-office staff, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Immediately report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, adverse patient reactions, or other significant issues to the appropriate supervisor or physician.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
- Current Nuclear Medicine Technologist certification through NMTCB and/or ARRT (N), as required for the position.
- Current state licensure/certification as required by applicable state law.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Previous PET imaging experience preferred.
- Cardiac PET imaging experience strongly preferred for a cardiology practice.
- Knowledge of radiation safety, radiopharmaceutical handling, patient positioning, imaging protocols, and quality-control procedures.
- Ability to operate PET imaging equipment and related computer systems.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- Excellent communication and patient-care skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with physicians and clinical staff.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to assist patients with positioning and transfers.
- Ability to lift, move, or assist patients and equipment as necessary to safely perform job responsibilities.
- Ability to work in an environment involving exposure to ionizing radiation while consistently following required radiation-safety procedures.

Experience performing cardiac PET myocardial perfusion imaging in an outpatient cardiology setting is highly preferred. Experience with cardiac stress testing protocols and working alongside physicians and clinical staff during cardiac diagnostic procedures is also beneficial.

Schedule: Thursday and Friday
