Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic

What you will do:Repair of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, structural, and pneumatic systems on loaders, forklifts and heavy equipment. The functions include but are not limited to troubleshooting electrical, fuel, hydraulic, brake and pneumatic systemsPerform preventive maintenance checks on all rolling stock, including oil and filter changes and completing preventive maintenance recordsChange bearings and set for proper clearanceReplace flat tires and all miscellaneous repairsWeld on equipment, as neededAssist in mill repairs in emergency situations, as neededMaintain mobile shop wash bay and surrounding areasAble to identify part in parts manual for proper orderingMust be able to understand and satisfactorily complete work orders, preventative maintenance, and other tasks in a timely manner while following all Safety Requirements and Lock-Out ProceduresWilling and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment and completing all trainingMust be available to work weekends, holidays, and overtime hours along with varying shift patternsAble to work in extreme environments (hot, cold, rain, snow, etc.)Other duties as assigned by SupervisorMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONMust have 2 years of experience with direct responsibility in troubleshooting and repairing, heavy rolling stock equipment to include: gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, pneumatic and structural damage Must have good welding skills in all positions and cutting skills with a torchMust have professional tools and toolboxes used in the repair of rolling stock equipment and willing to acquire additional toolsMust be physically capable of bending, reaching, lifting and able to work in extreme environments (hot, cold, rain, snow, etc.)Must be self-motivated and able to work unsupervisedMust be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime hoursMust know how to follow direction Must have good attendance recordGood leadership qualitiesGood communication skillsMust meet in-house minimum testing standards for MaintenancePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS2-year degree in heavy equipment repair and 5 years' experience or demonstrated training certifications for heavy equipmentExtensive work history of Caterpillar and Volvo loaders, Taylor and Hyster forklifts and general automotive repairExperience troubleshooting & repairing hydraulics & pneumatics systems and reading hydraulic schematicsExperience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)EducationRequiredHigh School or betterEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
