Atomic Machines is ushering in a new era of micromanufacturing with its Matter Compiler™ technology platform. This platform enables new classes of micromachines to be designed and built by providing manufacturing processes and a materials library that are inaccessible to semiconductor manufacturing methods. It unlocks MEMS manufacturing not only for device classes that could never be produced by semiconductor methods, but also for entirely new categories. Furthermore, this digital platform is fully programmable in the way 3D printing is digital—but whereas 3D printing produces parts of a single material using a single process, the Matter Compiler™ technology platform is a multi-process, multi-material system: bits and raw materials go in, and complete, functional micromachines come out. The Atomic Machines team has also created an exciting first device—made possible only through the Matter Compiler™ technology platform—that we will be unveiling to the world soon.

About The Role:

We are seeking a highly technical Engineering Program Manager to lead the development and scaling of Nodes on the Matter Compiler — our modular manufacturing system. You will combine strong technical judgment with program leadership: defining scope and interfaces, setting ownership and success metrics, maintaining integrated plans, and running the operating cadence that drives execution. You will drive programs for integrated machine systems spanning precision motion, optics/metrology, vacuum process modules, embedded software, and factory workcell infrastructure. At Atomic Machines, the PMO is a leverage function. You will strengthen our execution system by tightening feedback loops, reducing friction, clarifying "done," and surfacing high-integrity signals on progress, risks, and decisions.

What You'll Do:

• Own end-to-end program execution for assigned Nodes, Modules, or Platform initiatives.
• Define scope, milestones, owners, success metrics, and delivery outcomes (time, cost, budget, change control).
• Lead cross-functional planning across ME, EE, Software, AI, Operations, and Leadership.
• Build and maintain integrated execution plans that connect strategy to daily work, dependencies, and measurable progress.
  Drive effective change control by framing technical tradeoffs as structured decisions with clear options, risks, and implications.
• Establish forecasts, measure execution against them, and improve the mechanisms that increase learning rate and reduce friction.
• Design and refine deployment processes for our Hybrid Fab environment to enable rapid design-test-learn cycles.
• Maintain dashboards, reviews, and reporting that provide real-time, data-driven visibility into program health.
• Build scalable processes to eliminate recurring challenges (integration, pilot-to-production scaling, cross-team synchronization).

What You'll Need:

• 5 (minimum for Senior) to 10+ years spanning hands-on engineering and technical leadership (TPM, engineering management, or equivalent) on complex multidisciplinary products.
• Proven track record delivering integrated hardware-electronics-software systems from concept through manufacturing release.
  Strong technical fluency grounded in real build experience — able to recognize when a decision requires more rigor vs when to move fast.
• First-principles thinking with sound instincts for strategic tradeoffs (e.g., buy vs. build, specialization vs. generalization).
• Experience with mechanical systems involving motion, kinematics, sensing, and closed-loop control, and software for embedded or hardware-adjacent systems.
  Strong bias for ownership and clarity in ambiguous environments.
• Experience with iterative, incremental hardware development in fast-moving or startup contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to structure ambiguous programs — breaking them down into fundamental components, dependencies, and a fast cycle-time execution model.
• Strong executive presence and communication — trusted by both technical teams and leadership.
• High EQ and sound judgment navigating complex people dynamics across technical organizations.
• BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with semiconductor tools, robotics hardware, factory automation, or aerospace systems.
• Experience driving reliability growth, scaling readiness, and manufacturing release processes.

The compensation for this position also includes equity and benefits.

Salary Range

$180,000—$250,000 USD
