Building Products Field/Lab Test Technician

Building Products Field/Lab Test Technician Location: Plano, Texas. Intertek seeks a Building Products Field/Lab Test Technician to join the Building & Construction team. This role supports testing of building products in both lab and field settings. What you’ll do: Manage entry‑level testing projects under supervision until signed off to perform testing independently Track and condition test specimens Set‑up/mount and perform standard tests on building products per specifications and procedures Check calibration status of test equipment before testing Analyze test results and write concise test reports Learn test standards and procedures (e.g., AAMA, ASTM, NFPA) Maintain tools, equipment, supplies, and ensure the work area is clean Minimum Requirements & Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED Technical competency to understand and communicate test procedures, specifications, and results; mechanical aptitude Familiarity with or ability to learn Quality Assurance policies and procedures for test specimen control, storage, and disposition General construction/carpentry knowledge and experience using power tools Physical ability to lift at least 50 pounds and perform required movements (sit, stand, crouch, bend, climb stairs or ladders, crawl, push, pull) Ability to follow directions and work under supervision Excellent customer service skills Strong written and oral communication skills Computer skills using Word and Excel; AutoCAD if applicable Ability to travel up to 50% of the time Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record Preferred Requirements & Qualifications: Associate’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience Equal Employment Opportunity Intertek is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer that values diversity and provides accommodations for individuals with disabilities. #J-18808-Ljbffr Intertek Building & Construction
